Denphone Joins Team Minus 6 Campaign
Denphone has joined the Japanese Government led campaign "Team Minus 6." This program aims to help reduce the effects of global warming by reducing the carbon footprint of companies and organizations throughout Japan. This project is part of the Japanese government's campaign to help reach the country's Kyoto Protocol obligations.
As part of the campaign employees at Denphone are encouraged to not wear ties and jackets during the summer allowing the air conditioning system to be run at a higher temperature, whilst in winter, to wear warmer clothing so that heating needs are reduced.
In terms of IT infrastructure, unnecessary systems have been shut down and even recycled where necessary (spare machines going to help foreign students studying in Japan). Employees are encouraged to turn off equipment and lights when not in use.
Where possible packaging materials are being recycled - this includes packaging used for shipping items sold at Denphone's telephony focused webshop.
Denphone President Huw Williams said, "We are happy to be part of the Team Minus 6 campaign. Although a small company, we feel that every bit of effort helps. This program sits well with our own product range, as our Asterisk based VoIP telephony systems offer a much smaller footprint than traditional analog PBX's thus allowing our customers to meet their environmental goals as well as getting the best that todays technology offers."
