Case Study 12: United Nations University

    Objective

To implement a VoIP capable phone system to replace their old expensive analog PBX in Tokyo.

    • INS1500 PRI trunk connection to the Japan PSTN
    • INS64 BRI ISDN backup connection to the Japan PSTN
    • 220 Cisco IP phones for staff based in Tokyo
    • 24 port Audiocode analog gateway

    Solution

Denphone installed a three server load-balanced Asterisk based PBX system in the UNU Tokyo office. Connections were made to the NTT Phone network via a PRI card. 220 Cisco 7941 IP phones were connected to the Asterisk Servers, and an Audiocodes 24 port analog gateway was used to connect to six internal PBXs in other small offices in the building. Analog devices were also connected to the Audiocodes unit.
