Skype to Japan Office PBX Connectivity

Posted: 2009-04-02 12:13 pm by Simon Gibson.

Skype Denphone! You may have noticed the green "Call Me!" icon on the right hand side of the Denphone website - that is a Skype click to call button.

With the new Skype for Asterisk beta program that Denphone is currently testing, it is now possible for users with Skype to click on that green icon and be connected to the phone system running in Denphone's Tokyo office.

This means that we can now combine the social networking capabilities of Skype with the power of the Denphone Asterisk-based office PBX system. At present we have the skype button set up to call all the phones in our office - and it would be just as easy to make it call 800 phones!

Other options include connecting the call to an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) or Automated Attendant system. As well as that, features such as call recording (for compliance and legal purposes) are now possible with Skype callers. Integration with an organizations CRM system is also possible, allowing the tracking of calls to and from Skype users in the same way that it is now possible to track interaction with normal phone users.

Skype for Asterisk is still a beta, and is not yet commercially available. Once the beta period is completed, pricing (which will most likely be on a per channel basis) and other details will be available from Denphone.
